Examination System
- The medium of instruction in respect of all the Programmes of Studies offered by the University shall be in English or any other Language approved by the Academic Senate, except in cases of studies/research in Languages.
- Question Papers of all examinations shall be set and answered in English or any other Language approved by Academic Senate, except in case of examinations in languages/literature, where the question papers may be set and answered in the respective languages either in totality or in part, depending upon the requirements of the course.
- Project Work/Project Report/Dissertation/Fieldwork Report/Training Report etc., if any, shall have to be written in English or any other Language approved by the Academic Senate, except in case of the Programmes of Studies in languages/literature, where the same may be required to be written in the respective language.
- The university shall adopt the guidelines issued by the UGC and other Regulatory bodies concerned from time to time in respect of the conduct of examinations.
- All Degree Programmes of Studies of the University shall be offered under Semester System and Diploma Programmes of Studies of the University shall be offered under the Annual System.
- Examination & evaluation of students shall be through the CCA System.
- CCA shall be conducted as under

- The University’s registered External Students can appear in the TEE through ODES.
- Negative Marking System: If the TEE is in MCQ format, negative marks would be calculated by deducting ¼ of the marks awarded for a correct answer for full-time students. Thus, if you answer a question correctly, a + 4 is awarded, and if you answer any question incorrectly, a – 1 is deducted. For instance, if someone answered 6 questions correctly and 2 questions incorrectly, then his/her final score will be 6 (4) – 2 (1) = 22. It will be applicable only for the students who enrolled in Academic Session 2024 onwards and appear for their TEE in MCQ pattern on the OMR Answer Sheet.
- The Entrance Test Examination Committee (ETEC), shall conduct Common Entrance Examination by the name of Higher Education Admission Test (HEAT), Further Education Admission Test (FEAT) and The Research Entrance Aptitude Test (TREAT) for admission in the undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree programmes respectively as per the need.
Examination Management Committee (EMC):
- The EMC is the sub-committee of the Academic Senate to deal with the examination matter and shall consist of the following members:
- The vice-chancellor or his/her nominee shall be the chairperson of the EMC.
- One member of the Board of Management of the University is nominated by the Chancellor as Vice Chairperson.
- Pro Vice Chancellor(s) of the University, if available
- All the Dean of the Faculty of Studies, including the Dean of Student Welfare and the Dean of Academic Affairs. In the absence of the Dean, the Program Coordinator for private students.
- Dean, Institute of Research and Innovation (IRI). In the absence of Dean – IRI, the Research Coordinator.
- Director, Directorate of Outreach. In the absence of the Director, the Program Coordinator for private students.
- The Head of the Student Registration Section.
- One member of the Academic Senate of the University is nominated by the Chancellor.
- The Chairperson may co-opt an expert as a member for a meeting.
- The CoE shall be the Ex-officio Member Secretary of the EMC.
- Five members present at any meeting shall constitute a quorum.
- The CoE shall maintain a record of all decisions of the EMC and circulate all members within 7 days of the meeting.
- The tenure of office of the members of the Examination Management Committee other than ex-officio members shall be three years or till reconstitution, whichever is earlier.
- The members of the Examination Management Committee shall not be entitled to receive any remuneration from the University except such daily and travelling allowances as may be prescribed.
- In the absence of the Chairperson of the Examination Management Committee, or during the Chairperson’s inability to act, the Vice-Chairperson shall chair the meetings of the Committee and perform all the functions of the Chairperson of the Examination Management Committee.
- The EMC shall have the following powers:
- The EMC shall conduct the TEE of each program whether full-time or part-time or external or short time or as decided by the University from time to time as per the Academic Calendar notified from time to time.
- Approve the name of examiners for IA and moderation of each course received from the respective Dean of the concerned Faculty, in the absence of the Dean, the Head of the Concerned Faculty.
- Approve the Question Paper-setters for Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) as per APU Policies.
- Approve the External Examiners as per APU Policies.
- Approve the Examination Schedule of the TEE and IA proposed by the Department of Examination.
- Approve the Continuous IA marks recommended by the Dean of the concerned Faculty.
- Approve the Center Superintendent (CS) of each examination centre.
- Approve the result of the examination conducted by the University from time to time and ensure the result shall be declared as per Academic Calendar.
- Recommend the name of eligible students for the award of Diplomas, Degrees & Gold medals to the BoM through Academic Senate.
- Ensure the secrecy and confidentiality of all examination records including minutes of the committee.
- To prepare such forms and register as are, from time to time, required for examination records.
- In the case of difference of opinion among the members, the matter be referred to the Chancellor whose decision shall be final and binding on the EMC.
- Approve the Retention and Disposal of examination records.
- If urgent action by the EMC becomes necessary, the Vice-chancellor may permit the business to be transacted by the circulation of papers to the EMC members.
- To perform, in relation to examination matters, all such duties and to do all such acts as may be necessary for the proper carrying out of the provisions of the APU Act, Statutes, Regulations and this Rule.
Entrance Test Examination Committee (ETEC)
- The committee shall conduct Common Entrance Examination by the name of Higher Education Admission Test (HEAT), Further Education Admission Test (FEAT) and The Research Entrance Aptitude Test (TREAT) for admission in the undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree programmes respectively as per the need.
- The The Vice-chancellor shall constitute ETEC, to deal with the examination matter and shall consist of the following members:
- The CoE nominated by Vice-chancellor shall be the Chairperson of the ETEC;
- All the Dean of the Faculty of Studies, including the Dean of Student Welfare and the Dean of Academic Affairs.
- Dean, Institute of Research and Innovation (IRI). In the absence of Dean – IRI, the Research Coordinator.
- Director, Directorate of Outreach. In the absence of the Director, the Program Coordinator for private students.
- The Head of the Student Registration Section.
- One member of the Academic Senate of the University is nominated by the Chancellor.
- The Public Relations Officer, in the absence of the Public Relations Officer, the Assistant Public Relations Officer.
- The Director, Admission shall be the Ex-officio Member Secretary of the ETEC.
- Five members present at any meeting shall constitute a quorum.
- The Member Secretary shall maintain a record of all decisions of the ETEC in a book form.
- The ETEC shall have the following powers:
- To determine the modalities, structure, and schedule of the entrance examinations.
- To frame and revise the syllabus, eligibility criteria, and examination guidelines.
- To appoint examiners, moderators, and evaluators for conducting the tests.
- To declare results and recommend candidates for admission based on merit and reservation policies.
- To take decisions related to grievances, unfair means, and discrepancies arising from the conduct of the tests.
- To propose changes or updates in the examination framework to the Academic Council for approval, as and when required.
- Conduct of Entrance Examination:
- The Question Paper Setters for the Common Entrance Examination shall be appointed by the Vice Chancellor;
- The overall administration, conduct, supervision and control of the Common Entrance Examination shall be the responsibility of the Controller of Examination who with the approval of the Vice Chancellor, shall arrange;
- To get the question papers for the Common Entrance Examination set by the paper setter(s) appointed by the Vice Chancellor;
- For the confidential printing & proof corrections of the question papers for the Common Entrance Examination;
- To appoint Chief Superintendents for each of the Examination Centres;
- For the smooth conduct of the Common Entrance Examination in all Examination centre and exercise general supervision and control;
- For the evaluation of the Answer scripts/OMR Sheet and preparation of the merit list;
- In the absence of the Controller of Examinations or otherwise if the circumstances so warrant the Vice Chancellor may appoint a Coordinator of the Common Entrance Examination who shall perform such functions as specified.
- The Common Entrance Examination shall be held at the designated Examination Centres as approved by the Academic Senate and notified to the students prior one week with the hall tickets.
- Each Examination Centre shall be under the charge of a Center Superintendent, who shall ensure smooth and fair conduct of the Common Entrance Examination.
- During an entrance examination, all candidates shall be under the disciplinary control of the Centre Superintendent, whose instructions on the conduct of examination shall be final and binding. If a candidate disobeys instructions or misbehaves with Centre Superintendent/Supervisory staff/invigilator/any other staff/other examinees, he/she may be expelled from the examination.
- Notwithstanding anything contained in these Regulations, the examination of all such candidates who are found using unfair means in the Common Entrance Examination shall be cancelled and consequently his/her answer script will not be considered for evaluation and preparation of merit list.
- The ETEC shall have the following powers:
Every student shall submit the examination form through online mode by the last date as notified in the Academic Calendar along with the examination fee and eligibility certificate. Examination forms without fees and eligibility certificates shall not be accepted.
- Examination fees and other fees shall be as mentioned on the university’s official website, www.ApexUniversity.edu.in .
- The examination fee paid is neither refunded nor adjusted under any circumstances.
Examination Discipline Committee (EDC)
- The EDC shall consist of the following members to consider and decide the cases relating to the acts of misconduct, misbehaviour, indiscipline and/or use of UFM by the students in the examinations:
- The Chief Protector or any University Staff nominated by Vice-chancellor shall be the Chairperson of the EDC;
- The Registrar of the University;
- The Dean-Student Affairs, in the absence of the Dean, the Student Welfare Officer;
- The Dean of the concerned Faculty, in the absence of the Dean, the Head of the Concerned Faculty;
- The CS of the concerned Examination Centre shall be special invites to the meeting of the EDC while considering the reported cases of UFM;
- The CoE shall be the Ex-officio Member Secretary of the EDC;
- Three members present at any meeting shall constitute a quorum;
- EDC meetings shall be convened as and when required, and the minutes of each meeting shall be duly recorded and placed before the Examination Management Committee (EMC) for review and approval.
- The CoE shall maintain a record of all decisions of the EDC in a book form.;
- Depending upon the extent and severity, the punishment for the use of UFM may include:
- Obtaining a written apology and undertaking good behaviour and conduct;
- Lowering the Marks/Grade in the examination in which the UFM was used;
- Lowering the Marks/Grades in all examinations of the Semester;
- Awarding “I” Grade/”F” Grade to the student in the particular examination in which the UFM were used;
- Awarding “I” Grade/”F” Grade in all examinations taken by the student during the semester;
- Debarring for a certain specified number of semesters from appearing in the examination of the University;
- Cancellation of admission from the University;
- Rustication from the University and debarring the student from taking admission in any Programme of Studies of the university for a certain specified period of time;
- Rustication from the University and debarring the student from taking admission in any Programme of Studies of the university forever;
- The EDC shall decide the extent, and magnitude of punishment to those found guilty of misconduct, misbehaviour, indiscipline and/or use of UFM by the students in the examinations with due regard to the nature and extent of the offence committed by a student and shall ensure that the punishment is commensurate to the offence committed and in accordance with the principle of natural justice;
- All decisions taken by the committee will be placed before the Vice-Chancellor for approval;
- A student found guilty of misconduct, misbehaviour, indiscipline and/or use of UFM in the examinations by the EDC may appeal to the Vice-Chancellor, in writing, within one month of the receipt of the decision of the University; and if the Vice-Chancellor is satisfied by the representation, he/she may refer the case back to the EDC for reconsideration;
Programme Registration And Course Enrollment
Programme Registration
- After completing the admission process the admission section will send all the Application for Admission Forms (AAF) of provisionally admitted students to the concerned Dean of Faculty, along with a copy of supporting documents attested by the student, eligibility verified by the Deans/HoD’s concerned.
- The Dean/Director of the Faculty/Institution/Directorate shall provide the registration form web link to newly admitted students for generating registration in the University within 30 days from the date of commencement of classes.
- The students shall fill and submit the registration form (online), and submit a signed hard copy to the Dean/Director of the concerned faculty/Institution/Directorate along with the original eligibility certificates for verification only.
- The student shall submit a Migration Certificate in original to the Dean of the Faculty (except if the students last studied from the APU) along with Student Registration Form (SRF).
- The Dean/Director of the Faculty/Institution/Directorate Dean of the Faculty will collect the forms, verify the originals and eligibility of the student and send the SRF to the Department of Examination with the Migration Certificate in original (except if the students last studied from the APU) and copy of the duly attested eligibility certificate.
- The CoE shall approve the students registration online on the basis of verified eligibility certificate and original migration certificates received from the Dean/Director of the Faculty/Institution/Directorate Dean of the Faculties.
- The Department of Examination shall issue the Registration Card bearing the Registration Number of the student.
Course Enrollment
- The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) provides an opportunity for the students to choose courses from the prescribed courses comprising core, elective/minor or skill based courses.
- Only eligible candidates (as per the respective regulations) are permitted to complete the course enrollment process.
- For course enrollments, all the guidelines mentioned in the respective rules should be followed.
- Once the course enrollment is over, a copy of the Course Enrollment Form (CEF) for all the students shall be submitted to the Department of Examination duly signed by the student, Coordinator/Dean of the Faculty.
- Wherever the online registration is not possible, the course registrations are permitted manually and shall be submitted to the Department of Examination through proper channels.
- University shall offer any course only if a minimum 33% of the students enrolled in the program has opted that course. In cases where this criterion is not met, prior approval of the Vice Chancellor shall be required.
Eligibility For Admission To The Term-End Examinations
- In order to be eligible to take the TEE, a student must have;
- been on the roll of APU by paying prescribed fee for one full academic session (period of study) in the program for which he/she wants to take the examination;
- submitted his/her online examination form along with fee and eligibility certificate to the CoE for this purpose;
- submission of the original eligibility certificate signed by the programme coordinator and Dean of the concerned Faculty of having attended all lectures, practical and tutorial classes held during the session (effective teaching hours/ contact hours) as prescribed. Attendance in lectures, practicals and tutorials shall be counted from the date of commencement of the session as per Academic Calendar.
Note: A student is expected to attend 100% of classes i.e. theory, practical & Tutorial. The above relaxation is provided for absence due to unforeseen reasons.
- Every period of lecture, tutorial, practical, project and workshop work as applicable shall be counted as one unit for the purpose of counting of attendance e.g. if a class covers four periods at a time, four units of attendance will be counted;
- Each student should have carried out laboratory, practical assignment, project work etc. prescribed in the course taken by him/her to the satisfaction of the Programme Coordinator and certified by the Dean of Faculty as fit for appearing at the TEE as regards progress, conduct and character provided that such students have not been debarred from appearing for any examination held by any Government or constituted statutory examination authority in India at the time of TEEs held by the APU;
- A student engaged in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, with the permission of the Dean of Faculty, shall be treated as present for the purpose of counting attendance in accordance with the timetable, for which record will be maintained by the concerned faculty;
- When on account of illness, (supported by a Medical Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner produced by the student at the time of illness or immediately thereafter) or for any other reason deemed sufficient by the Dean of the Faculty (e.g. death in the family), the total attendance of a student falls short up to a maximum of 10 percent of the total working days, the Vice-Chancellor shall be competent to condone such deficiency in attendance and permit such a student to appear for the examination, if otherwise eligible.
Note: Internship shall not form part of the above and will be treated separately. - A student disallowed from appearing for an TEE for not fulfilling the above conditions shall be required to fulfill all the conditions afresh before being entitled to appear for the TEE;
- Those students who, because of being ineligible to appear in any of the University Examinations, are detained whether on account of shortage in attendance or for any other reasons shall have to repeat that semester/term as a regular student in the following year and may, if otherwise eligible and if so permitted, appear in the next TEE. Detained students will not be permitted for progression to the next semester;
- A student, who fulfills the conditions in above but does not appear for the examination, may at his/ her option appear for the subsequent examination as an external student. In such cases, the IA put in shall be preserved by the Dean of the concerned Faculty and presented at the subsequent examination;
- Attendance of the students, provisionally promoted to the next higher class, shall be counted from the date of commencement of the session;
- Term End Examination may be held twice every semester. The first examination in a semester shall be the semester examination, and the second examination shall be the held improvement examination.
- All online examination forms shall be accompanied by the necessary fee prescribed by the University from time to time. An additional late fee as prescribed shall be charged for each late examination application received in the University not later than 5 days after the notified last date and up to 10 days before the commencement of the examination. The CoE may, however, be competent to accept such late applications without any late fees even after the notified date if he/she is satisfied that during the online form fillup, the prescribed fee was debited from the student’s bank account but reversed back on later stage due to technical glitch;
- The University will accept no examination application, which has not been so submitted or is not complete in every respect. The CoE shall be competent to issue the Hall Ticket any such application, which is not complete in every respect;
- Notwithstanding the forwarding an examination applications for admission to TEE and payment of examination fee through University Payment Gateway and allocation of Examination Registration Numbers and/or release of Hall Ticket, the Vice-Chancellor shall be competent to withdraw such applications in respect of those students who do not fulfill any of the conditions laid down above, at any time before the commencement of the examination and to disallow those students from appearing for the examination. The Dean of the Faculty shall forward the list of all detained students to the Registrar, APU before the commencement of examinations;
- Students who wish to continue their studies, after having been out of the University for not more than two years due to any reason, except those who for adopting UFM or found guilty for gross indiscipline etc. and having been debarred by the competent authority from appearing in the TEE, could do so within one week from the commencement of the session. The period of absence shall be counted from session to session and not from the date the student leaves the University. Attendance for such students shall be counted from the date of commencement of session. They will, however, continue with the original Registration Number allotted to them in the first instance;
- Duration to clear a program: The maximum period permitted to clear or pass all papers/subjects of a program shall be governed by the Rules and Regulations of Apex Professional University, in cases where the respective Regulatory Bodies have not prescribed specific norms.
Non-Refund Of Examination Fees
- Students who are not permitted to appear in the examination may receive a refund of the examination fee if they submit a written application to the CoE before the examination begins.
- No application will be entertained if received after the commencement of the examination.
Examination and Other Fee
Every student shall submit the examination form through online mode by the last date as notified in the Academic Calendar along with the examination fee and eligibility certificate. Examination forms without fees and eligibility certificates shall not be accepted.

- The examination fee paid is neither refunded nor adjusted under any circumstances.
Conduct Of Examination
- All examinations of the University shall be conducted in accordance with the norms prescribed by the concerned regulatory bodies. For External Students, as defined under the provisions of the Apex Professional University Act, the examinations shall be conducted in Online On-Demand Mode for the full marks prescribed for the respective course.
- The examinations shall be held at the University Campus(s), at the respective Community Colleges of the University, or at such other places as may be approved by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
- The AS shall decide the mode of examination either online or offline of each paper and program.
- The online examination shall be conducted on demand as per schedule.
- The Controller of Examinations shall appoint the Dean of the concerned faculty as Centre Superintendent (CS), or any senior teacher with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor. The Deputy Centre Superintendent (Deputy CS) and Invigilators for each examination centre shall be appointed by the Centre Superintendent from among the teachers of the concerned Faculty. The Deputy CS shall be the senior-most faculty member with a minimum of one year of teaching experience at APU.
- The CS will ensure proper receipt of stationery & question papers and their safe custody.
- The Vice-chancellor shall appoint observer/s in each examination centre outside the University campus.
- The CoE shall ensure that the list of students appearing for the examination, the required number of Answer Booklets/OMR/Answer Sheets and the stationery required for packing are received at the examination centre at least 03 days prior to the commencement of the examination.
- The Dean/Director of Faculty/Directorate/Centre/Community College shall inform the CoE, APU, of the number of students enrolled to take such examinations by the date(s) so notified by the CoE.
- The CS shall appoint Invigilator, all other supervisory and ancillary staff required as approved by the CoE.
- The number of staff to be appointed for the centres will depend on the number of halls/rooms, labs. workshops etc. in which the examination is being conducted. One invigilator shall be allowed for every 25 students or part thereof with a minimum of two invigilators per room or hall, in case of written examinations.
- The Deputy CS will be provided to assist the CS If students are more than 200 on each day of the Examination.
- In the conduct of practical examination, the instructor who has been conducting practical classes shall normally be appointed as Internal Examiner.
- Amanuensis (substitute writer) may be provided to a student if he/she is not in a position to write, subject to the discretion of the CoE, on the condition that no remuneration will be paid to such a writer by the University and the writer will not be a person connected with the program/course, knowledgeable in the course or related to the student.
- Bonafide ‘Dyslexic’ students shall be provided 25% extra time for theory exams.
- Every student shall be issued a Hall Ticket by the University with a photograph, which must be produced at every examination along with University ID Card.
Question Papers And Examiners For The Tee (External/Internal):
- The question papers for the term-end examination (TEE) are collected from the question paper setters as per the format of BLUEPRINT.
The Department of Examination shall prepare a panel of teachers for appointment as paper setters, based on the recommendations of the Dean of the concerned Faculty.
The CoE, in exercise of the power vested in him, shall offer appointments to these empanelled teachers as paper setters, and while doing so, would take care to give due weightage to seniority and the field of expertise of the respective teacher so offered the appointment. The appointment of paper setters shall be rotated amongst the different faculty members having similar expertise on the basis of their service seniority. - In case an appointed paper setter fails to submit the question paper within the stipulated period, the CoE, in exercise of the authority vested in him/her, may annul his/her appointment as paper setter and assign a second person to set the said paper as per the FORMAT OF BLUEPRINT.
- The Board of Studies (BoS) shall recommend the list of paper setters and examiners to the Academic Senate (AS), and after approval from the Academic Senate, the CoE shall appoint the paper setters and Examiners.
- An External Examiner shall be one who is not teaching in any faculty/community college of this university. He/she shall be a teacher with the requisite qualification and experience in the subject as laid out by the concerned council of the course or as per the university regulation and shall work/have worked in an institution other than this university/college/institution.
- An internal examiner shall be one who is teaching at this University and has the requisite qualification and experience laid out by the respective council or this university, as applicable.
- The Academic Senate (AS) for a program/specialisation shall approve alternate names for appointment as paper-setters and a list of the requisite number of examiners for each examination.
- Notwithstanding anything contained in any other rule or regulation for the time being in force, the CoE, in consultation with the Chairperson of the Academic Senate shall have the power to remove permanently or for a specified period any paper-setter/examiner whose work is found unsatisfactory as to standards of marking or who was found to have committed irregularities or caused inordinate delay in the submission of awards/question papers, etc., or if there is some doubt with regard to his/her integrity or was otherwise unable to perform the work or to conform to directions of the University.
- The appointment of external question paper setters shall be made exclusively for the Term End Examinations (May/June) of Full-Time and Part-Time students pertaining to the final semester or final year. For all other Term End Examinations, the responsibility for setting question papers shall rest solely with the internal faculty.
- Where the appointment of any Paper-setter/Examiner is cancelled under above clause, any Paper-setter/Examiner is incapable of acting as such or does not accept the appointment or, in an emergency, to meet a particular situation, the CoE is empowered to appoint a substitute as deemed suitable.
- External Paper-setters and External Examiners shall be appointed on term to term basis, but no such person shall ordinarily continue to act as such for a period of more than four successive terms continuously in the same paper and shall not be eligible for re-appointment unless there is a gap of at least one term.
- No person shall be appointed as Paper-setter/Examiner:
- If he/she has written or revised a help-book or Guide relating to that paper for use of candidates for the examination concerned;
- If he/she does not possess sufficient teaching experience in the subject for a minimum of 3 years provided that this condition may be relaxed in the case of a subject in which qualified teachers are not easily available.
- If any of his/her relations is appearing in the examination. For this purpose “relation” shall mean-“Wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, wife’s brother and wife’s sister, brother’s son and daughter, sister’s son and daughter, first cousin, husband’s sister, brother, nephew, niece, grandson, grand-daughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law”.
- If he/she is banned by any institution duly approved by UGC or the state government.
- If he/she is convicted of any offence which, in the opinion of the Vice-Chancellor; involves moral turpitude;
- If he/she is declared insane.
- If a person has already been appointed and has acquired any of the above disqualifications, his/her appointment shall be cancelled.
- The CoE shall issue instructions to the Paper-setters/Examiners with regard to due provision for secrecy and any other matter incidental thereto.
- The Paper-setters shall send the question papers to the CoE in sealed covers and by eMail on or before a date notified in their appointment letters.
- The appointment of a Paper-setter shall be deemed to be cancelled, if he/she fails to send the question-paper by the date fixed in this behalf provided that the CoE may, for sufficient cause, extend the period.
- Two to four different sets of handwritten/soft copy of the question papers are collected confidentially from the examiners for each course.
- The question papers are typed at the Department of Examination at the confidential section and are submitted to the Moderation Committee for scrutinizing the question papers.
NB: All the exercises described here at above in Clause 12, Sub Clauses (i) to (xvii) may be dispensed with if the University, in compliance to the UGC guidelines opts to go ahead with the Question Bank System. In the event of University deciding to go for the Question Bank System the method of paper setting shall be as described hereunder:
- The University shall, right at the commencement of the session and at its own behest, develop a full set of paper-wise question sets covering the entire course content of each of the papers to be evaluated.
- Ordinarily each such question set shall have three categories of questions, namely the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), the short answer type, and the long answer type.
- The complete question bank so formed for a particular paper shall have at least ten times the number of questions the student would have to answer during the examination in each of the categories described at (ii).
- Once these question sets are ready for each paper, the Department of Examination shall compile them together to form a comprehensive question bank.
- The question bank thus prepared shall be compiled paper- and subject-wise and may be made available in both digitised and print formats.
- The question bank so framed shall be uploaded department-wise as also programme/ course-wise to facilitate fast and easy accessibility.
- All papers to be set during a particular semester examination shall be drawn randomly using adequately designed customized software.
- The random selection process shall be supervised by the CoE in presence of at least two other senior faculty/Head of academic/administrative departments of the university to be nominated by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for the electronic draw of each such question sets.
- The random selection process of the question sets from a preset question bank of a particular paper shall ensure transparency in the process without compromising confidentiality of the matter.
- Once chosen, the CoE shall take charge of it and arrange printing of the paper set which would be dispatched to the respective examination centres for the needful.
Moderation of Question Papers
- There shall be a moderation committee to moderate the question papers set in a particular subject/paper.
- The moderation committee may select all three members from the relevant university faculty of studies. The Dean/In-charge of the relevant faculty of studies at the university shall chair the sittings of the moderation committee. The Moderation Committee meetings shall be convened by the CoE of the university.
- In the event of a subject being offered under the Directorate of Outreach at the university, the vice-chancellor shall be pleased to appoint, on being recommended by the CoE, a suitable faculty member as chairperson of the said committee. The structure and size of the moderation committee in such a case shall, however, be as per provisions at Clause 13(i) and Clause 13(ii) above.
- The moderation committee shall examine (i) clarity and correctness of the set questions, (ii) coverage of syllabus and (iii) distribution of marks (iv) difficulty level of questions(v) suggest for modification, The Moderation Board would have the power to alter a maximum of 25% of the set questions provided it is unanimous that such changes are absolutely necessary.
- The Examination Department shall ensure printing and distribution of the moderated question papers at respective examination centres at least two days prior to commencement of the examination maintaining strict confidentiality.
- No committee members will carry Mobile Phones or any other electronic gadgets into the department of examination during the moderation.
NB-2: Provided the Question Bank Pattern of paper setting, as described at N.B.-1 above, is adopted by the University, Moderation exercises would not be required at the level of the Department of Examination.
Duties of the Centre Superintendent (CS)
- The CS shall have full disciplinary control over all matters concerning the smooth conduct of the examinations at his/her respective centre.
- On being reported against or having himself/ herself detected a candidate or candidates indulging in unfair practices during examination, he/ she shall have the right to warn/expel/temporarily debar or suspend the student(s) on the spot as may be deemed fit and appropriate under intimation to the CoE. All relevant papers in the matter then may be forwarded to the Department of Examination to enable it to place the case before the EDC for its consideration.
- Any such disciplinary proceeding, if had to be resorted to, must be taken only after duly recording the reasons for adopting such measure in presence of the Invigilators who must attest the recorded reasons. The recorded document, duly endorsed by the CS , may then be forwarded to the Department of Examination under a sealed cover marked ‘Confidential’.
- All such disciplinary measures taken shall have to be immediately reported to the CoE for the needful.
- The CS shall make all necessary arrangements for enabling the differently-abled candidates to write their examinations.
- The CS shall make necessary arrangements for providing sick bay with medical attendance in case a student falls sick during examination or intends to write the examination while already in sickness as may be certified by the candidate’s attending physician.
- The CS shall act as the link between his/her designated centre and the examination department of the university and shall monitor the entire examination processes there at the designated centre on behalf of the University.
- At the close of the examination, the CS shall remain obliged to submit a written Status Report in a sealed envelope marked ‘Confidential’ to the CoE on his/ her experiences at the centre.
- The CS shall be responsible for the safe custody of the question papers and answer booklets.
- He/She shall also be responsible for the smooth conduct of the examination.
- The CS shall appoint all other supervisory and ancillary staff.
- The CS shall arrange training to Invigilator, all other supervisory and ancillary staff involved in the term end examination.
- The CS shall make seating arrangements for the students after proper frisking.
- The CS may in case of necessity, seek police assistance for the purpose.
- The CS shall sign a declaration that He/She doesn’t have a conflict of interest (that no relative/wards of friend is applying to the examination centre).
- During the theory examinations:
- Question paper packets shall be opened 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination according to the procedure. Sealed question paper packets shall be opened in the presence of two invigilators, inside the examination hall/room. The question paper opening certificate shall be filled and signed by the CS and invigilators and one student.
- The question papers are provided in English. The translation of the papers to regional languages (if required) shall be arranged and supervised by the CS immediately after opening the question paper packet.
- After the commencement of the examination, no student shall be allowed to leave the hall/room and no person except the students shall be allowed to enter the hall/room in the first 30 minutes. No student shall be allowed to write an examination who arrives after the first 20 minutes.
- The covers shall be handed over to the invigilators five 05 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination, with an instruction to open the covers and distribute them only at the time of commencement of the examination.
- No student shall normally be permitted to enter the examination hall after the commencement of the examination. The CS may, however, at his/her discretion; permit a student to enter the hall up to half an hour after the commencement of the examination. However, no extra time will be allowed for such late admissions.
- No student shall be permitted to leave the examination hall before the lapse of one hour after the commencement of the examination. The CS may in exceptional cases permit an examinee to leave the examination hall even before this period if in his/her judgment, the continued presence of the examinee in the hall is not desirable in the interest of smooth conduct of the examination or if a student becomes physically incapable of continuing the examination due to sudden illness.
- Exactly after 30 minutes from the commencement of the examination, the absentees’ statement, unused answer booklets and unused question papers from the invigilator of the hall/room must be collected and tallied.
- Extra time shall not be given to students who appear after the commencement of the examination.
- At the end of the examination, the answer scripts collected by the invigilator are to be checked, arranged in order and packed properly and kept under safe custody.
- Mobile phones, programmable calculators and other electronic equipment should not be allowed in the examination room even if they are switched off.
- Keep utmost vigilance throughout the examination process. The CS may frequently visit the examination hall and ascertain that the invigilators are doing their duties and are not indulged in talking, standing on the veranda, keep reading or writing inside the examination hall.
- After the completion of the examination:
- The sealed covers of answer scripts of each day are to be packed separately and the cloth bags are to be handed over to the CoE or dispatched to the University by speed post/registered post on the day of examination.
- A printed question paper, translated question paper and attendance sheets are to be enclosed along with the respective answer scripts on a separate cover.
- Permission for a Scribe/Writer: In the case where the student is not able to write the answers with his/her hand due to unforeseen events like an accident or the student is disabled and not able to write and still he/she wants to appear for the examination, such student is permitted to appear for the examination, taking help of a scribe under the following conditions:
- The scribe shall be at least a 12th std + or with a higher qualification from any other field other than the course taught in that institute and the courses for which the student is answering the questions. Scribe shall not be a relative of the student.
- The application of the student and details of the scribe (like name, qualification, address, signature and photograph) shall be forwarded to the CoE of the University after the completion of the examination.
- The examination for such students shall be conducted in a separate place by appointing an invigilator. If more than one student is writing the examination with the assistance of scribes, sufficient distance has to be maintained between the students.
- The payment/expenses of the scribe shall be borne by the student. University will not reimburse any expenses in such cases either to the student or to the examination centre.
- The students writing the examination assisted by the scribes are permitted an extra time of maximum 30 minutes duration if necessary.
- The unused answer books, additional sheets and other stationeries shall be returned to University immediately after the completion of the examination.
- The claim for remuneration/bill for conducting the theory/practical examination is to be submitted with required vouchers/receipts and shall be forwarded to the CoE within 10 days from the date of the last examination. Expenses claims without proper bills/receipts will not be reimbursed. Excess claims, if any will be deducted.
Duties of Test Administrator (TA)
The Test Administrator (TA) shall have full supervisory and disciplinary control over all matters concerning the smooth, secure, and fair conduct of the online proctored examinations at his/her assigned centre or under his/her monitoring purview.
- Before Examination:
- The TA shall ensure the proper setup, functioning, and readiness of all technical systems required for the conduct of the examination, including stable internet connectivity, functioning webcams, microphones, and proctoring software.
- The TA shall act as the link between the Department of Examination and the respective examinees or examination centre in all matters related to the online examination process.
- The TA shall monitor the entire process to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with prescribed examination guidelines.
- The TA shall ensure that all candidates are informed well in advance about examination login details, system requirements, and examination rules.
- Before the commencement of each session, the TA shall verify each candidate’s identity through a valid photo ID (e.g., University ID card or Government-issued ID) via the online proctoring interface.
- The TA shall ensure that face recognition or live verification processes are properly executed and recorded.
- Any case of identity mismatch, impersonation, or suspected malpractice must be reported immediately to the Controller of Examinations (CoE) through the prescribed reporting format.
- During Examinations:
- The TA shall ensure that candidates log in at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination for verification and system checks.
- The examination window shall be opened only at the scheduled time, and candidates shall not be permitted to start before the official commencement.
- No candidate shall be allowed to join the exam after 20 minutes from the commencement time.
- The TA shall ensure that the examination is conducted under live or AI-assisted proctoring, with candidates’ webcams and microphones switched on throughout the session.
- The TA shall monitor for any unusual activity such as:
- Movement out of frame or away from the screen
- Multiple persons visible in the camera frame
- Use of mobile phones, books, or electronic devices
- Background noise suggesting external assistance
- Use of unauthorized applications, browsers, or secondary screens
- Any violation detected must be recorded, captured (screenshot/video log if system allows), and immediately reported to the CoE.
- Handling Unfair Means:
- Upon detection of unfair means or malpractice, the TA shall warn the candidate immediately through the chat or voice interface and record the incident in the proctoring dashboard.
- In case of continued violation or serious misconduct, the TA has the authority to terminate the examination session and submit a written report to the CoE along with system logs and screenshots.
- All disciplinary actions must be duly documented, attested by the TA, and forwarded to the Examination Department under “Confidential” cover for consideration by the Examination Disciplinary Committee (EDC).
- Technical Support and Contingencies:
- The TA shall ensure availability of technical support personnel during the entire duration of the examination.
- In case of technical disruption (internet failure, power outage, or system crash), the TA shall verify the authenticity of the issue, record the time and duration, and inform the Examination Department for necessary approval of rescheduling or continuation.
- The TA shall ensure that the examination platform records complete logs of candidate activities and system events for audit purposes.
- Post-Examination:
- After completion of the examination, the TA shall ensure that:
- All responses are successfully auto-submitted and uploaded to the University’s examination server.
- Attendance reports, session logs, and proctoring reports are compiled and submitted to the CoE within 24 hours of the examination.
- Any incident reports (malpractice, disconnection, or technical issues) are recorded in the prescribed format and forwarded under “Confidential” cover.
- The TA shall submit a Confidential Status Report at the end of each examination day detailing the conduct of the examination, number of candidates present/absent, and any irregularities noticed.
- The TA shall maintain strict confidentiality regarding question papers, candidate information, and proctoring data.
- The TA shall ensure that no question paper or response data is downloaded, shared, or stored outside the authorized system.
- Any suspected data breach or unauthorized access shall be immediately reported to the CoE and Department of Digital Section.
- The Test Administrator shall sign a Declaration of Non-Conflict of Interest, confirming that no relative, ward, or close acquaintance is appearing for the examination under his/her supervision.
Duties of Observer
- The Vice-Chancellor shall appoint observer/s in each examination centre outside the University campus. The Observer may be appointed from outside the University with the prior approval of the Chancellor.
- Observer must report at the examination centre before the commencement of the examination schedule and one hour before of every session on all examination days as per the issued orders and shall verify seating plan, seating arrangement, working condition of CCTV Cameras, conduct of meeting with the invigilators and other necessary arrangements are done as per the specified norms.
- Observers shall see that CCTV Cameras should not be turned off during the examinations at any cost.
- The observer shall see that the arrangements are made by the CS for proper frisking at the entrance of the centre premises.
- The observer shall see that the timings of the Examinations in each session are followed strictly and if any deviations are noticed, they must be brought to the notice of the CoE immediately.
- Question Paper printing and issue of Question Papers to the Examination Halls should be done in presence of CS/Deputy CS and Observer so as to ensure confidentiality.
- Any slackness in Invigilation or improper Invigilation by the Deputy CSs (Invigilators) should be brought to the notice of the CSs for rectification and the same shall be included in Observers report(s).
- Observer shall see that No invigilator shall leave the Examination hall unless a reserve occupies his/her place as per the instructions of the CS. A reserve shall only be sent in case of emergency.
- Among the CS, Deputy CS and Observers, at least one should be present in each examination hall at the time of distribution of Question Paper to the students.
- The Observers should be present at the time of receiving the written Answer Scripts/OMR Sheet of the students from the Invigilators by the CS and all the present/absent/Mal-Practice scripts barcodes should be scanned, packed and sealed in the observer’s presence.
- The Observer should ensure that the Packing of Answer Scripts/OMR Sheets is done as per the instructions issued to CSs and the Observer should satisfy and affix his/her signature on the sealed envelope bundles of every session.
- Observer is held responsible for any mismatch in no. of written Answer Scripts/OMR Sheets that of no. of written Answer Scripts/OMR Sheets packed in the respective sealed envelope.
- The Observer shall see that the Answer Scripts/OMR Sheets are submitted by the CS immediately after the end of each session examination. Any delay in the submission, should be reported immediately stating the reasons for the delay. Under any circumstances, observers should not leave the examination centre without depositing the sealed envelope bundles in the Department of Examination.
- The Observers should send their session wise and spell wise reports confidentially only in the prescribed proformas enclosed for all the days of examination.
- The Observers shall be paid Remuneration, TA & DA as per APU Rules.
Evaluation of Answer Scripts
- Theory Papers
- Optical Mark Reader (OMR), Bar-coded dummy numbers are being used for the Answer Scripts.
- Evaluation of MCQ type examination held on OMR, in online/offline mode, shall be done by Question Paper Software.
- All the offline descriptive Answer Scripts of the TEE are evaluated by arranging a central evaluation camp.
- The CoE, if feels a requirement of Camp Officer (CO), may appoint a faculty member as the CO who will be in charge for the smooth conduct of central valuation, depending upon the number of Answer Scripts, CoE shall appoint any number of COs.
- The Answer Scripts are handed over to the CO for the further process.
- The dates of central valuation are intimated to the Examiners well in advance after getting approval.
- The CoE shall appoint senior most faculty members as Chief Examiners (CE) for different courses.
- Neat and duly filled in scorebook Book in triplicate along with the evaluated Answer Scripts shall be handed over by the evaluator to the Department of Examination under sealed cover inscribed with words “Top Confidential’.
- All evaluation works must be taken up by the Department of Examination in all earnest and all efforts shall be taken by the Department of Examination to positively complete the evaluation works within 15 days counting with effect from the date of the last held examination of a particular semester.
- There shall be a Result Moderation Committee (RMC) with CoE as its Convener in which all Deans of Faculties including the Dean, Students’ Welfare shall be the members. The quorum of the committee shall be one third of the total members.
- The RMC shall sit as soon as the tabulation of results is completed and recommend the grace principle (if required) for approval of the Vice- Chancellor. In case, the Deans are not available in station as the case may be during vacation period, the CoE and at least two Heads of academic/ Administrative Departments shall sit together and finalise the result.
- All practical examinations shall be conducted under the supervision of external examiners who shall be appointed by the CoE. The External Examiners so appointed shall however have to be from a panel of examiners duly approved by the EMC.
- In the event of an external examiner failing to present himself/herself during the scheduled examination, the Centre in Charge may, under intimation to the CoE appoint a team of two internal examiners to conduct the examination.
- Notwithstanding anything contained herein above, the Vice-Chancellor shall have the power to take such steps and issue orders accordingly as may be deemed necessary from time to time to uphold the interest and integrity of the university system.
- The evaluation of Answer Scripts shall be done by the examiners as per regulations of the respective Regulating Bodies and as provided in the relevant ordinance of each course. However, the CoE where deemed necessary, may appoint a moderation committee for each course for sample checking of evaluation of Answer Scripts by the examiner so as to avoid erratic/under-evaluation.
- The answer keys for the question papers are collected from the concerned faculty members and are checked by the CEs.
- Evaluation of the Answer Scripts are done as per the answer key and the evaluation is checked by the CE.
- The CoE gives necessary instruction to all CE and Examiners.
- Each faculty member shall evaluate not less than 15 and not more than 35 descriptive Answer Scripts per day.
- After evaluation the Answer Scripts are handed over by the CO to CoE.
- The coding and decoding of register numbers along with marks will be done using OMR barcode reader under the direct control of CoE.
- Practical Papers
- During Spring (Odd) Semester evaluation shall be done by the Examiners appointed amongst Teaching Staff of the respective faculties from inside the University.
- During Monsoon (Even) Semester evaluation shall be done by External Examiners appointed from outside the University.
Duties of Invigilators
The invigilator is required to:
- The Invigilator shall sign a declaration that he/she doesn’t have a conflict of interest (that no relative/ wards of friend is applying to the examination centre).
- Report to the CS 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination.
- Permit the students to enter the Examination hall 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination. Students possessing the hall ticket and Identity Card issued by University shall be permitted inside the hall.
- Do not permit the students to enter the hall with mobile phones, possessing any books, notes slips of papers or any written material pertaining to the subject of the examination, any other gadget/device/object like electronic watches with memory, logarithmic/mathematical/statistical/scientific tables, calculators, laptop computers, personal stereo systems, walkie-talkie sets, paging devices, mobile phones etc.
- Check the registration numbers of the students written on the allotted places and direct the students to their respective seats.
- Distribute the main Answer Booklet/OMR Sheets to the students 10 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination.
- After immediate distribution of Answer Booklet/OMR Sheets to the Students, the Invigilators shall be directed to get through with all the Instructions and announce the following instructions in the examination hall:
- Not to carry any Chits/Material/Mobile Phones/any other electronic gadgets into the examination hall.
- Students are instructed to sit according to the seating arrangement.
- Students shall be instructed to read the instructions mentioned on Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet and Hall Ticket.
- Students may be instructed to check the serial number of each page to ensure that all the pages are printed without any damage. In case if the total number of pages are not stitched/if page numbers are wrongly printed/if any page is found damaged, the same may be brought to the notice of Invigilator and in-turn to the CS. In such cases, the CS may issue SG to the Student and mention the same in the remarks column on the photo attendance sheet by bringing it to the notice of the CoE.
- Distribute the question papers immediately after the bell without any delay.
- Verify the entries of the registration number, language used, exam centre code, month, year, course name, course code, full signature of the student in the Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet and Question Paper. After verifying these entries, sign at the appropriate place in the Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet and Question Paper. Check the identity card and the hall tickets before allowing the student to sign in attendance and in the exam centre copy on the respective date. This work should be completed within the first half an hour after the commencement of the examination. Registration numbers of absentees are also to be noted in the invigilators’ diary.
- After the commencement of the examination no person shall be allowed to leave the hall and no person except the student shall be allowed to enter the hall in the first 30 minutes. No student shall be allowed to write the examination that arrives after the first 30 minutes.
- Collect the unused Answer Booklets from the absentees’ table/desk at the end of half an hour.
- Report the registration numbers of absentees and return the remaining question papers and unused Answer Booklets to the CS at the end of half an hour.
- At the end of the examination, make the student write the total number of additional sheets used for the day in the attendance sheet. Also instruct the student to write their registration numbers in the entire additional sheet used.
- Carry out vigilant supervision by moving in between the rows as much as possible.
- Make the UFM report immediate after catching any student using UFM and take possession of the Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet of the student along with paper or other material found in his/her possession, record the time when the case was made, provide the second Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet immediately, record the time on the second Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet when it was issued, and on the top of the second Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet superscribe “Second Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet”.
- As soon as any case of UFM is made give a fresh Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet to the student caught using UFM after for completing the Examination
- Report suspected malpractice cases immediately to the CS.
- Avoid talking to the students.
- No clarification or guidance should be given to/discuss with the students in case they raise any doubts regarding the contents of the question papers/discrepancies in the question papers.
- Under any circumstances or for any reasons the invigilator shall not leave the examination hall till the end of the examination.
- Students shall not be permitted to change their allotted seats or to go out of the examination hall for any reasons. Students who leave the examination hall shall never be permitted to enter the hall again/continue writing for any reasons or under any circumstances.Students who leave the examination hall shall never be permitted to enter the hall again/continue writing for any reasons or under any circumstances.
- Collect the answer scripts immediately after the final bell. Confirm the number of additional sheets taken by each student while collecting the answer scripts, tally the same with the attendance sheet.
- Arrange the papers in proper order registration number wise, language wise and submit to the CS along with the attendance sheet.
- The invigilator shall not accept the assignment, if his/her relatives are the student appearing for that examination.
- Students writing the examination assisted by the scribes are permitted an extra time of maximum 30 minutes duration if necessary.\
- Do not make any correction in the registration number written by a Student on his/her Answer Booklet/OMR Answer Sheet. Ask him/her to correct it and then counter sign it.
Acts of Misconduct & Use of UFM
- The CS shall report to the CoE without delay and on the day of occurrence of each case where use of UFM in Examination is suspected or detected with full details of evidence of actually what is noticed from the concerned person either the invigilators, examiners in practical examination or from any other source together with an explanation in writing from the concerned student. The report should indicate how, when (Date and Time) and by whom (Official on duty) the UFM case was detected or misconduct/misbehaved and what was actually noticed.
Following acts shall be treated as ‘MALPRACTICE’ in the examination- Any student who is found in possession of any note-book(s) or notes or chits or any other unauthorised material concerning the course pertaining to the examination paper.
- Anything written on any part of clothing, body, desk, table or any instrument such as set square, protractor, blotting paper and question paper etc.
- Possession of electronic gadgets such as Mobile phone, I-Pad, Tablet, Ear Phone, Head phone, Smart watch, Bluetooth device, wi-fi, hotspot, etc.
- Talking to another student in the examination hall or change of seat without the permission of the Examination Superintendent.
- Consulting notes, books or any other material or outside person while going to the toilet etc. outside the Examination Hall.
- Running away or swallowing or destroying any note or paper or material found with him/her.
- If the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet shows that a student has received or given help to any other student through copying.
- Using obscene or offensive language in the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet.
- Deliberately disclosing one’s identity or making any distinctive mark in the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet for that purpose.
- The student found guilty of having adopted anyone or more of the above malpractice is liable to be penalized with a penalty by the University, which may vary from cancellation of the examination/expulsion up to maximum period of three years following the malpractice under issue.
- In case the student refuses to give a written statement, the fact of his refusal shall be recorded by the CS and witnessed by at least two members of the Supervisory Staff present at the time of interrogation of the student by the CS.
- A student found to be or suspected to be guilty of using UFM in the examination shall be permitted to answer the remaining part of the question paper but on a separate Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet and the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet in which the UFM is suspected to have been committed shall be taken in possession by the CS, who shall send both the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet, marked I & II in the order in which these were used by the student to the CoE with his/her detailed report and findings in a separate sealed cover. The student shall however be permitted to appear in the remaining examination(s) in subsequent papers(s).
- Even if a student is found having in his/her possession or accessible to him/her, papers, books or notes or material which do not relate to the subject of examination and which could not possibly be of any assistance to him/her, such cases must be reported to the CS by the Invigilator with necessary papers for investigation.
- If a student is found talking to another student during the examination hours in the examination room, the CS shall record the statement of both the students and the invigilator and send it to the CoE with his/her comments. He/she shall also take action as prescribed in rule.
- The CS shall report all cases of impersonation together with the evidence, which led to such conclusion and action taken.
- A student who refuses to obey the invigilator and changes his/her seat without the permission of CS and/or creates disturbance of any kind during the examination and/or otherwise misbehaves in the examination hall shall be treated as a case of UFM.
- A student found copying from notes written on any part of his/her clothing, body, desk or table or instrument like setsquared, protractors, scales etc. or who is found guilty of concealing, disfiguring, rendering illegible, swallowing or destroying any notes or papers or material found with him/her or found exchanging Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet or question paper with solution or talking to a person or consulting notes or books outside the Examination Hall, while going to the toilet or in the toilet shall be deemed to have used UFM and action as proposed in Rule.
- A student found taking assistance from an electronic gadget during the examination shall be deemed to have used UFM and action as proposed in Rule.
- If a student fails/refuses to deliver his/her Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet to the invigilators before leaving the Examination hall, or mutilates or tears pages from the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet, a report will be sent to the CoE under separate sealed cover to this effect.
- If a student is found having exchanged the raw or semi or finished product/work or has presented a practical or class work or notebook which does not belong to him/her in practical or viva-voce examination shall be deemed to have used UFM. Forging signatures of teachers, submission of fake/forged certificates for Internship shall be treated as malpractice.
Penalty For UFM
- In case a student is found by the CS of having in his/her possession or accessible to him/her papers, books or notes or material which do not relate to the subject of the examination, no action be taken against the student. Such a case may be filed by the CS after a written warning to the student not to repeat such action.
- A student found having in his/her possession or accessible to him/her papers or chits or material relating to the course/subject of the question paper shall be declared as failed in the course.
- A student found having in his/her possession bulk cheating material such as books, notes, chits or material relating to the course/subject of the question paper shall be declared as failed in all the theory and practical course/subjects of the semester/term.
- A student found exchanging Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet or question papers with solutions or copying from unauthorized material shall be declared as failed in all the theory and practical courses of the semester/term.
- A student found having in his/her possession electronic gadget(s) shall be declared as failed in the course.
- A student found using/ copying from an electronic gadget shall be declared as failed in all the theory and practical courses of the semester/term.
- If a student voluntarily surrenders to the invigilator during the course of examination, papers, books or notes or material in his/her possession which are relevant to the examination, and these were not found or detected by a member of the supervisory staff, he/ she shall be disqualified as per provision under rule 13 (i) (a) or (b) as the case may be.
- Students found talking to another student during the examination hours, in the examination room/ hall or outside or found changing his/her seat without the permission of the CS, shall be asked to leave the examination room/ hall and report to the CoE.
- If an Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet shows that the student has received help from another student or to have copied from any paper, book or note or material or to have allowed any other student to copy from his/her Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet or to have taken the help from the notes written on any part of his/her clothing or body or table or desk or instruments like setsquared, protractors, scales etc.
- If a student is found guilty of running away or swallowing or destroying any paper or note or material found on his/ her, the student shall be declared a fail in all the theory and practical subjects of the semester.
- A student found in possession of a solution to a question set in the paper through connivance of any member of the supervisory or any other ancillary staff or some outside agency shall be declared fail in all the theory and practical subjects of the semester. Cases of such alleged misconduct on the part of supervisory or the other ancillary staff shall be reported by the CS to the Administrative Authority concerned for necessary action.
- A student found guilty of smuggling in an Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet, or to take out an Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet, shall be disqualified for a maximum period of two academic years.
- A student found using obscene or abusive language in the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet or found guilty in which he/she has indulged/adopted UFM shall be disqualified for the examination and debarred from appearing in the University’s examination for a period of one to five years according to the gravity of his/her misconduct.
- A student found using obscene or abusive/unparliamentary language by means of verbal or non-verbal communication or involved in manhandling/misbehaviour/ disrespect/misconduct with invigilators or CS or exam functionaries or any other University officer/staff shall be treated as UFM, the student will be disqualified for the that examination and will be debarred from appearing in the remaining examinations (both Regular and Re-appear) with immediate effect by CS with prior approval of CoE and same decision have to be communicated to concerned students by WhatsApp or Telegram or Email. Further CoE may recommend to the Vice-chancellor to suspend the student for a period of one to five years according to the gravity of his/her misconduct.
- In case of impersonation, the student who is impersonated shall be disqualified for a minimum period of five academic years or for any such period as will be decided by the University. The CS shall report the person who impersonates the Police.
- If a student is found guilty of deliberately disclosing his/her identity or making a distinctive mark in the Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet for that purpose or fails to deliver his/her Answer Booklet/OMR Sheet before leaving the examination hall, he/she shall be declared a fail in the course/subject.
- If a student is found having exchanged the raw or semi or finished product/work for an examination in practical, viva-voce or project work or presents to the examiner, a practical or class work notebook, project or tour report which does not belong to him/her, he/she shall be declared fail in all the theory and practical subjects of the semester. A student will be disqualified for a period of one year for submission of a fake/ forged certificate of attendance of Industrial Training or for any such period as decided by the EMC.
- A student found to have attempted or trying to attempt personally or through another person to influence or pressurize an examiner, or any officer or official connected with the examinations, in any matter concerned with the examination shall be disqualified for a minimum period of one academic year.
- A student, found approaching or influencing or pressurizing directly or indirectly a member of the EMC or any officer or official of the Academic Senate, regarding his/her UFM case shall be disqualified for one more year in addition to the punishment to be awarded according to the rules for him/her having used a particular type of UFM.
- A student making a false statement in any of the examination forms shall be disqualified for a period of one year.
- A student found guilty of having adopted UFM, but not covered by any of the above rules shall be punished according to the nature of the offense and the decision of the University shall be final.
- According to the above rules, disqualification for one academic year shall mean that the student has failed in all courses/subjects of the examination in which he/she has indulged/adopted UFM and shall not be allowed. For example, a student disqualified for one year for having used UFM in the TEE 2023 shall be declared fail and will not be allowed to appear in the TEE 2024, and will be permitted to appear in the TEE 2025 and onward if otherwise eligible under the rules.
Procedure For Penalty For Use of UFM
- On receipt of a report of use of UFM from the CS/Invigilator or any other person, the CoE shall issue notice to the student who used or is suspected to have used UFM for providing an opportunity to explain his/her position before the EDC either in writing or in person.
- The EDC will then deal with and recommend the case of alleged use of UFM or misconduct by the student and the decision of the EMC in all such cases of malpractice reported to it shall be final.
- If the EMC is satisfied after due enquiry of the EDC that the integrity of the examination has been violated at any examination center as a result of en masse use of UFM or unfair assistance referred to the examinees, the EMC will order re-examination besides taking any other action that it may deem fit.
- The EMC shall have the right to recommend for cancellation of the Certificate/ Diploma/Degree of a student without any prejudice to its year of award by notification if it is discovered at a later stage that the student had furnished wrong or false information during the course of his/her study.
- The EMC shall in normal circumstances finally decide about the reported cases of UFM prior to the declaration of results.
- The condition/provision of minimum period of punishment as provided under the Examination Rules could be relaxed and the EMC will be fully empowered to decide the period of disqualification/debarring of students found to have committed malpractice in the University’s TEE.
Minimum Pass Marks
- To pass a theory course, a student must secure at least 40% marks in IA and TEE separately.
- To pass a practical course, a student must secure at least 40% marks in IA and TEE separately.
- To pass a project or dissertation, a student must secure at least 40% marks.
- To pass an internship and on-the-job training, a student must secure at least 40% marks.
Note: For the purpose of mark computation, a fraction of half or more than half shall be counted as one in the final computation.
Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA)
- A student admitted to the privileges of the university at any of its faculties shall have to appear in all sessional tests that would be conducted during the semester in order to become eligible to sit for the term-end examination.
- Ordinarily, any student admitted to the privileges of the university who has duly applied for permission to sit in his/her term end examination shall be treated as eligible to sit for the examination subject to the conditions that the student concerned has
- paid the prescribed fee and
- has, on aggregate, attended at least 75% of the total lectures delivered during the entire tenure of the semester he/she is enrolled in.
- In the event of a student failing to obtain the stipulated 75% attendance, he/she may apply through his /her Head of the department to the concerned Dean or to the Principal of the college wherein the student is enrolled seeking partial relaxation of the applicable attendance norm. Subject to the condition that the concerned authority is convinced of the genuineness of the case, he/she may grant relaxation in attendance to the tune of a maximum of 5% and provided that the relaxation thus granted makes up for the stipulated attendance norm, the student concerned may be allowed to sit for examination. In case, the relaxation thus accorded is not sufficient to make the student eligible to sit for the examination, the student shall have to repeat the papers in which he/she has insufficient attendance in the next relevant semester.
- The CIA having three components and their weightage as under:

- The marks for WT will be awarded on the basis of higher marks scored in two tests conducted by the concerned Teacher.
- CCAs are Assignments, Seminars & Presentations. CCAs marks will be given by the course teacher and counter signed by the concerned Dean of Faculty.
- ECAs participate in the University Club Activities. ECAs will be given by the Club Coordinator and counters signed by the Head, Department of Student Welfare.
- Award Sheet of Practical or Project carrying the external marks should be submitted to the Department of Examination through concerned Dean of the Faculty duly signed by the internal and external examiners within two working days from the date of examination.
- The improvement in IA marks is permitted only if there is a provision for the respective program.
- If IA Marks are awarded less than 30% or more than 70%, the concerned Dean of the Faculty shall call for a justification from the concerned Teacher. If justification is not satisfactory, the concerned Dean will report to the Vice-chancellor for necessary action.
- The Vice-chancellor shall verify the justification, if unsatisfactory, then order the concerned Teacher to reduce or increase the IA marks.
- The CIA Committee for each program to ensure the enforcement of procedures and fairness in award of CIA marks and shall consist of the following members:
- Dean of the Faculty – Chairperson
- Faculty nominated by the Vice-chancellor – Member
- Program coordinator – Member Secretary
- The CIA Committee will send the list of students with CIA marks to the CoE in the prescribed format seven days before the commencement of the TEE.
NB: Notwithstanding anything contained in Section 22 above, wherever the courses offered at the university invite mandatory compliance to the guidelines of national regulatory authorities such as the Bar Council of India (BCI), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), the Indian Nursing Council (INC), and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), as the case may be, the conduct of examinations in such courses shall broadly adhere to such guidelines as they would be laid down by the concerned regulatory authority from time to time. The conduct of examinations in the courses shall comply with the prescribed stipulations of the concerned national regulatory authority.
In the event of any dispute arising in the interpretation of the laid-down stipulations vis-à-vis the university norms as may be in force at a particular point of time, the matter shall, through the CoE, be presented to the vice-chancellor, whose decision in such matter shall be final.
Criteria For Award of Gold Medals
- The best graduate/University gold medal winner will be selected based on the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average secured by the graduate passing out in the academic year.
- A minimum of 75% in Overall Weighted Percentage Marks (OWMP) is required for the Gold Medal.
- The Gold Medal shall be given to the topper of the class.
- For the award of a gold medal, more than one candidate may be declared a joint winner if they have the same CGPA.
- A minimum of 10 students should appear in the final examination of that class.
- Students appearing for Improvement/Reappear Examination shall not be considered for the award of a Gold Medal. This will not be applicable to the exemption given to students missing examinations due to participation in national/international events by officially representing the university, state, or country.
- Students involved in UFM in any examination shall not be considered for the award of Gold Medal.
Moderation of Results
In cases, where the results of an examination are affected, either on account of large failures in a course(s) due to the question paper(s) set being not within the scope of the syllabus, or not within the reach of the students, or on account of error, malpractice, fraud, improper conduct such matters will be placed before the EMC, for consideration, before the declaration of results.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria For the Award of Degree/Diploma/Certificate/Pre-University Certificate
- Minimum eligibility criteria for selection of students for admission, credit requirements for completion and conditions for the award of Degree/Diploma/Certificate/Pre University Certificate for different Programmes of Studies, as approved by the Academic Senate from time to time.
- Conditions for the Award of the Degree/Diploma/Certificate:
- Every person who passes an examination for a degree or diploma or certificate of the university shall be eligible, on payment of a prescribed fee, to be admitted to the respective degree or diploma or certificate in person or in absentia.
- The BoM shall have the power to confer those degrees and award those diplomas or certificates for which qualifying examinations were held by the university at different times, upon persons who have passed those examinations and have been declared qualified to receive those degrees or diplomas or certificates. The BoM shall confer upon persons as aforesaid such degrees and award such diplomas or Certificate as provided for in the Regulations, at a meeting or convocation either in person or in absentia in such manner as may be decided by the BoG.
- In case of persons recommended under the provisions of Section 57 of the APU Act, the procedure for conferment of such Honorary Degrees or awards at a meeting or a convocation hall be the same as followed in the case of those who become eligible under the provisions 19 (ii)(b) of this regulation for the award of degrees or diplomas or certificate as a result of their passing the respective examinations therefore.
- The University shall award the degree/diploma/certificate to such External Students who have passed the qualifying examination for the degree/diploma/ certificate having been exempted from attendance at course of studies and registered with university in accordance with Section 5(36) of the Act.
- The meeting or the convocation for conferring degrees/diplomas or certificates shall be held on such date to be fixed by the Chancellor and on such other graduation day as may be fixed by the Chancellor. At such meeting or convocation the Director of each School, or in his/her absence the senior Dean of the Faculty shall request the BoM to pass a grace in the first instance and then shall present to the Chancellor or the Vice-chancellor and the meeting or the convocation the names of all or some of the persons who have sought admission to the respective degrees/diplomas/certificate in person. Such presentation shall take place in such order as may be fixed by the Vice-chancellor.
- The University shall grant the degrees duly notified by UGC U/s 22 to such persons as have undergone the prescribed courses studies and have passed the qualifying examination for the same in accordance with the regulations.
- All the students have to submit a certificate of performing community service for 10 days per year. The certificate may be obtained from the Dean, Student Affairs.
Promotion and Progression
- A student shall be required to participate in all components of the Comprehensive Continuous IA, as specified in the Detailed Course Outline, failing which he/she shall be deemed to have NOT COMPLETED the course and shall be awarded the “I” Grade. Provided further that the “I” Grade shall also be awarded to a Student in a course in which he/she has been declared ineligible to appear in the TEE of a course on account not meeting the minimum prescribed attendance requirements for the course.
- A student who has been awarded “I” Grade shall be required to re-register for the same course, when it is offered in the next semester(s), or shall have to register for another course under the overall framework of credit accumulation under the Comprehensive Choice Based Credit System to be able to successfully complete the minimum specified credit requirements for completion of the Programme of Studies.
- A student shall be deemed to have successfully completed a course except in cases where he/she has been awarded the “I” Grade or “F” Grade.
- A student who has successfully completed a course shall not be permitted to repeat the course to improve his/her grade;
- A student shall be required to secure a minimum of 40% Marks, in the course taken to successfully complete that course, failing which he/she shall be deemed to have failed in the course and shall be awarded the “F” Grade.
- The “F” Grade once awarded shall stay in the grade card of the student and shall not be deleted even when he/she successfully completes the course later. The grade acquired later by the student will be indicated in the grade sheet of the subsequent semester in which the Student has appeared for clearance of the arrears.
- If a student has been awarded “F” Grade, he/she shall be required to repeat the only the TEE i.e. he/she shall be required to reappear in the TEE of that course when that course is offered next. Provided further that a student shall not be permitted to repeat/reappear in the Continuous IA and/or the Internal (Mid-Term) Examination and that the marks/grade obtained by him earlier shall be carried forward for declaring the result.
- A student with “F” Grade in a course shall be permitted to repeat/reappear in the TEE of the Course for maximum number of three times i.e. a student with arrears on account of “F” Grade, shall be permitted to repeat/reappear in the TEE for a maximum of three times (including the first appearance), along with the subsequent TEEs.
- If a student secures “F” Grade in a Project Work/Project Report/Dissertation/ Fieldwork Report/Training Report etc, he/she shall be required to resubmit the revised Project Work/Project Report/Dissertation/Fieldwork Report/Training Report etc as required by the evaluator(s). Provided further that a student shall be permitted to resubmit the Project Work/Project Report/Dissertation/Fieldwork Report/Training Report etc for a maximum of three times (including the first submission).
Re-Appear Examination
- A Re-appear Examination will be held at the end of each Academic Semester/Year before the start of the next Academic Session. Re-appear examination will be held only for the current level courses.
- The students will only be allowed to appear for their failed paper/s in the current level course to a maximum of 40% of the total courses for the current year rounded off taking odd and even semesters of that year taken together.
- A student will ordinarily be assigned one Grade less than he/she actually obtains in a course in the Re-appear Examination to a minimum of B Grade or below, which would remain unchanged.
- A student will not be permitted for Re-appear Examination if the said student has been debarred due to attendance criteria in that course and has not attended remedial classes with a minimum of 75% attendance. However a student, debarred under the attendance criteria for a course will be allowed to appear in the Re-appear Examination for that course if he/she has attended at least 75% of the classes held in the term for the course.
Improvement Examination
- Students may appear for improvement examinations in any number of theory papers to improve the result, subject to the following terms and conditions:
- The Improvement Examination shall be held twice in a year i.e. September/October and March/April.
- A student who has received a ‘D’ grade in any course, has a CGPA below 5.0, and wishes to improve their performance is eligible to take the supplementary examination upon payment of the required fees.
- The supplementary examination is an opportunity to reappear for the term-end examination only.
- The candidates who have completed the attendance requirements for that course, appeared in the Term End Examination, and have been awarded an ‘F’ grade can register for the examination.
- A student who avails the opportunity and does not pass in a course(s) in this examination will have to register as a regular student in the course(s) as per the university rules.
- The examination for the specific course, as per the enforced syllabus, in which students wish to improve, must be conducted by the University at that time.
- Any change made in the current syllabus shall be treated as the final syllabus, and students have to appear in the examination with the new syllabus.
- A separate examination form has to be filled out for improvement by paying the fee for the reappearing paper.
- The maximum grade that can be earned in these examinations is limited to B. If any student obtains a grade higher than B, it will be truncated to B.
- The grade scored in the improvement examination shall only be considered if it is higher than the previous score.
- The students concerned would have also to categorically sign a declaration that he/she undertakes to accept the final grade as result of the review, which could result in improvement of his/her grade or the grade remaining the same or his/her being awarded a lower grade;
- No substitution for a course will be allowed in the supplementary examination.
Online Courses
- A sum of 40% of the credits of UG programs may be earned through online courses approved by UGC, i.e. MOOC, SWAYAM, NPTEL etc.
- On successful completion of each course, the institution offering the online courses approved by UGC, i.e. MOOC, SWAYAM, NPTEL etc, would issue the certificate, along with the number of credits and grades, through which the student can get credits transferred into his marks certificate issued by the University.
- The evaluation could be done online or through pen & paper examination either by the institution offering the online courses or by the APU.
- The University shall incorporate the marks/grade obtained by the student, in the final marks sheet.
- The University will evaluate the students for the practical/Lab component and incorporate these marks/grade in the overall marks/grade
Award of Grace Marks
- Award of grace marks to become eligible for the award of degree
- Grace marks in TEE after n years (Duration of the Programme), n+1 years and n+2 years may be awarded for one or more course/s of the TEE, ensuring that the total marks (including the grace marks), for such courses does not exceed the minimum passing marks.
- After n years: Six grace marks may be awarded after completion of the normal duration of the course (n semester/annuals etc), only if this enables the student to become eligible for the award of degree (i.e. after n semesters/years).
- After n+1 years: Nine grace marks to be awarded after n+1 year, only if this enables the student to become eligible for the award of degree.
- After n+2 years: Twelve grace marks to be awarded after n+2 years, only if this enables the student to become eligible for the award of degree.
Note: Minimum grace marks to be allocated in minimum number of papers to make students eligible for award of degree.
- If a student has appeared in a subject/paper more than once in different examination, his/her best total marks (including all components) declared, will be retained, and made operational only when the situation enumerated in point 28 (i) (a) (i), (ii) and (iii) above arises.
- Students intending to seek the benefit occurring from point 28 (i) (a) (i), (ii) and (iii) above as the case may be, are required to apply on the prescribed application form, to the office of the CoE. The application form, as to be duly verified and forwarded by the Dean of the Faculty in which the student is enrolled.
- The date of award of degree shall be the date of declaration of the result with grace marks by the CoE.
- If a norm or regulation is issued by the statutory regulatory body for any programme and is at variance with the provisions of this grace policy, then the norms or regulations of the statutory regulatory body shall prevail.
- Grace marks in TEE after n years (Duration of the Programme), n+1 years and n+2 years may be awarded for one or more course/s of the TEE, ensuring that the total marks (including the grace marks), for such courses does not exceed the minimum passing marks.
- The award of grace marks shall be reflected in the grade card with indication that grace marks are only for passing the examination or for securing class in the course(s) as the case may be.
- The grace marks shall be shown by one asterisk with added mark(s) above the head or right side of the original marks in the Tabulation Register. However, in the grade card, grace marks so awarded will be included in marks scored by the examinee and shall be indicated in terms of one asterisk (Viz*,) above the head or right side of the consolidated marks and to be carried forward to the grand total.
- Grace marks may be awarded in programmes of study governed by national statutory bodies, except where the concerned national statutory body has expressly prohibited the grant of such marks. In the absence of such prohibition, the quantum and conditions for awarding grace marks shall be determined independently by the Apex Professional University, unless otherwise directed by the statutory body.
- Grace marks shall not be awarded for Certificate programmes.
Disqualification of Students Due To Repeated Failure
No person shall be allowed to remain a student in any class of any program of the University for a period longer than the maximum duration.
Announcement of Results
- The CoE shall declare the results of the examination in accordance with the foregoing rules, within 60 days after the completion of term end exams.
- Marks in respect of Internship Training, Project, Practical, Internship and IA received after the due date announced by the University will not be considered for that examination and results announced accordingly.
- The CoE must display the result on the university website, and the examination coordinator of the concerned faculty will communicate it to the students via the official Telegram Group within three working days.
Course-Wise Letter Grade and Grade Point
Accordingly, the percentage of marks obtained by a student in a course will be indicated by a grade point and a letter grade on a Six (6) point scale in general as under:

N.B. However, for programs governed by specific national regulatory bodies that mandate a different evaluation system, such as a Ten (10) point grading scale, the University shall adopt and implement the prescribed grading system in compliance with those regulatory requirements.
Grade Card
The grade card issued at the end of the semester/year to each student will contain the following:
- Marks obtained for each course registered in the semester/term.
- Credits earned for each course registered for that semester/term.
- Performance in each course indicated by the letter grade.
- The class and the grade of all the courses, after completing the programme.
- The CoE shall issue the final transcript to the student on receiving the necessary fee for the purpose and no dues certificate. Other than that, all the students will get an e-Grade Card which can be downloaded from the University website.
Grade Card, Transcript And Provisional Certificate
The grade card issued at the end of the semester/year to each student will contain the following:
- Marks obtained for each course registered in the semester/term.
- Credits earned for each course registered for that semester/term.
- Performance in each course indicated by the letter grade.
- The class and the grade of all the courses, after completing the programme.

Printing and Distribution of Grade Cards (Transcripts)/Mark Sheets
- After the declaration of review/revaluation/retotaling results, the mark sheets/grade sheets are printed and distributed to the students through the concerned Dean of the Faculty.
- Normal time for printing and distributing the grade cards is one month from the date of declaration review/revaluation/retotaling results.
Issue of Consolidated Grade Card and Provisional Certificates
- After the successful completion of all courses prescribed in the curriculum of the programme, a consolidated grade card and provisional certificates are printed as per the Regulations.
- The consolidated grade card and provisional certificate are distributed to the students who have successfully completed, through the concerned Dean of the Faculty.
N.B.: In the event a student applies for the issuance of the Original Degree Certificate after the conduct of the Convocation, a late fee of ₹1000/- per year shall be levied.
Grievance Redressal
Rules For Providing The Photo/Xerox Copy/ies Of Assessed Answer-Book/s
- Applying for Photo/Xerox copy of the answer book and applying for Revaluation will be two independent processes.
- Applying for the Photo/Xerox copy of the answer book or having Photo/Xerox copy of the answer book shall not be a pre-requisite for applying for revaluation of the answer book in the said subject.
- The student can independently apply for revaluation OR Photo/Xerox OR both simultaneously.
- This facility shall be for theory papers only.
- Under these rules applying for the Photo/Xerox copy/ies of answer-books shall not be permitted in respect of the scripts of practical examination / term-work / sessional work / project work / dissertation / internal assessment / term work (including theory part) and in Viva voce / oral / practical examinations. However within seven (7) working days from the date of declaration of the results or on issue of the statement of marks by the APU, the candidate shall be allowed to apply online for the head wise internal split of his marks obtained at such examinations along with payment of non-refundable fee of Rs. 2000/- each course.
- The prescribed application form for obtaining Photo/Xerox copy/ies of answer book shall have to be filled and signed by the applicant examinee only and shall be submitted to the Department of Examination through the concerned Dean of the Faculty within seven (7) working days from the date of declaration of result.
- Incomplete application form shall be rejected without assigning any reason whatsoever and the fees paid along with the application form shall neither be refunded nor will any representation be entertained.
- On receipt of the photocopy if the discrepancy of following nature is noticed by the examinee, he should apply to the Dean or Head of the faculty concerned in the prescribed form along with the said photocopy and copy of the question paper within three (03) working days from the date of receiving the photocopy.
- Mistake in totaling
- Non assessment of a question / sub-question if required
- The Dean or Head of the faculty concerned will submit such an application to the Department of Examination with their recommendation.
- On rectification of the result as per the provisions above, the candidate can apply for revaluation within seven (07) working days from the date of receipt of the rectified result.
Revaluation/Re-totalling
- There is no provision for revaluation/re-totalling of the MCQ type questions papers either held in offline mode using OMR Sheet or in Online Exam.
- Students may apply for Revaluation/re-totalling for descriptive examinations by paying an amount of Rs 5000/- only for each paper/course.
- The University will after the declaration of results entertain applications (through online mode only) from students for verification/re-totalling of theory on payment of prescribed fee up to 7 (Seven) days from the date of declaration of result. Applications received thereafter will not be considered.
- The period of 7 (seven) days will be counted from the date the results are officially declared by the University and not from the date on which the results are announced by the University/actually published on the website or official gazette. It will be the student’s responsibility to see that the application for retotalling reaches the Department of Examination by the due date after which no application will be entertained. Online application for revaluation in the standard format with requisite fee payable through online only.
- For theory papers the University will examine whether the answers have been assessed by the examiner and whether the marks as transcribed to the cover sheet/award sheet and finally the result sheets are correct.
- For practical and IA the University will examine the award sheet submitted by the examiner(s) so as to see whether the total of marks assigned under different sub-heads and the marks transcribed from the award sheet to the result-sheet are correct.
- Revaluation of marks will not be done in the presence of the student. In cases where there is an omission of whatsoever nature affecting the results, the CoE will get it rectified, and declare the result consequent upon such rectification.
- All the answer scripts of theory and practical are stored at University for the purpose of review/re-totaling/re-valuation/any other issues, if any related to the conduct of examinations for a period of 90 days from the date of result declaration.
- All records pertaining to any student shall be maintained as per university policy.
Rules for Revaluation
- Revaluation facility shall be for theory papers only.
- A candidate can apply for the revaluation of the answer book of the course only if he/she has secured at least 20% of the total marks in that subject or 40% of the marks required for passing in the said subject, whichever is less or the grade equivalent to the above criteria where grades are assigned to the theory paper.
- Select the papers carefully in which you wish to seek the revaluation. No second application for additional papers would be accepted.
- Revaluation is to be applied online for within 7 (seven) days and will be counted from the date the results are officially declared by the University.
PLEASE NOT THAT
- When you apply for revaluation, you SURRENDER your original performance and will now accept the revised performance in which:
- there can be NO CHANGE,
- there can be INCREASE in the marks,
- there can be DECREASE in the marks.
- The application is to be made by the candidate online only.
- If the award of the Re-evaluator varies from the Original award up to and including = 5% of the maximum marks, the original award will stand.
- If the award of the first re-evaluator is beyond = 5% and up to = 10%, the average of the marks of the original examiner and the first re-evaluator will be taken.
- If the award of the re-evaluator varies from the original award by more that = 10% of the maximum marks, the answer script will be examined by a Second re-evaluator and the average of the two nearest awards out of the three awards thus available (including the original award) shall be taken as final.
Error In Question Paper:
If any student feels that there is an error question paper, he/she may submit a representation to the office of the CoE within 05 (five) days of conduct of that examination.
Record Retention Schedule (RRS) :
Record retention schedule relating to following subjects will be as per Govt. of India Record Retention Schedule (RRS) in respect of records Common to all Ministries/Departments 2012 as circulated by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
Savings:
Notwithstanding anything contained in this rule any regulatory body’s guidelines may be included with the prior approval of the competent authority.
